Superfoods are considered to be good for us because they are rich sources of essential nutrients including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals, dietary fibre, beneficial fats &/or enzymes.
Superfood greens are a powder made from dried green plants that contain nutritious phyto-nutrients including chlorophyll, the pigment that gives plants their colour green. They can include sprouted grains, spirulina and vegetables.
To mix superfood powder into water or juice add a small amount of liquid to the desired quantity of powder and mix into a paste. Then just add the remaining liquid and mix well until combined. If using superfood powder in smoothies add to the blender with all other ingredients and blend.
To make a superfood salad toss 1/2 a cup of pre-cooked quinoa with rocket leaves or shredded kale. Add your favourite super veg like broccoli, beetroot & sweet potato. Toss in avocado, cucumber & sprouts with some pomegranate arils, blueberries or pitted cherries. Top with pumpkin, hemp & sunflower seeds; chopped nuts and fresh herbs. Dress with a generous squeeze of lime and a drizzle of hemp oil or a tahini dressing.
Eat superfoods whenever possible. Add superfood powders and greens to smoothies in the morning, snack on nutrient rich fresh fruit, raw seeds and nuts during the day, make superfood salads for lunch or dinner, add super green veg like kale or watercress to meals, include superfood ingredients in baking, raw food and dessert recipes.
