  • Organic Carob Powder

    Carob powder is the roasted, ground pulp (or kibble) that surrounds the carob beans, aka locust beans, within the pod. Part of the pea family, carob trees (Ceratonia siliqua) originate from the Mediterranean. This Carob powder is Certified Organic and has a naturally sweet taste that is quite earthy. Although Carob is often used in place of chocolate, the flavour is much milder and does not have the bitter notes of cacao. This dark roasted carob powder is full flavoured with a deep, rich brown colour, sweet aroma and fine texture. Enjoy it in beverages, raw treats, confectionary and baked goods.

    Carob powder is delicious in hot or cold beverages. Add a spoonful to smoothies, or dissolve in a little warm water before adding ice and your favourite chilled dairy or plant milk. For a substitute to hot chocolate, simply replace cocoa with an equal amount of carob. As carob is naturally sweet added sugar is not necessary, although a dash of honey, coconut nectar or maple syrup does add extra flavour. To create a lovely non-dairy chocolate substitute, combine carob powder with an equal amount or coconut oil, with a dash of maple or coconut syrup. Dip fresh fruit in melted mix (try banana, mango and strawberries), stir through mixed seeds and chopped nuts and spoon ‘clusters’ on to grease proof paper to set; or add dried fruit (Inca and goji berries are great) and set in a slab. Carob powder is also wonderful for raw food treats and home-baked goods. To use carob powder as a replacement for cacao powder in recipes, substitute 1:1. If replacing solid dark cooking chocolate, use 2-3 times as much carob powder by weight.

    How to Use:

    Our Organic,Virgin, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil is a white, semi-solid oil and can be used in cooking but may also be used on the body as a moisturiser and hair product.

    Coconut oil is very heat stable so it makes an excellent cooking and frying oil. It has a smoke point of about 180°C.

    How to Use:

    Coconut oil is easy to use, substitute for other oils in baking, melt in a pan for frying, or brush over your meats and vegetables for roasting.

    The warmer it is the more liquid coconut oil becomes. It has a subtle coconut aroma and adds a very mild pleasant hint of coconut taste to the food. If a liquid oil is preferred, simply heat the coconut oil in a bowl within a bowl of hot water or over the stove on low heat – it will melt quickly.

It has been cultivated and eaten for thousands of years, prized by the Incant.  This Royal White Quinoa – technically a seed not a grain, is Organically grown in the cool, arid mountain regions of Bolivia. Royal White Quinoa has a delicious nutty flavour.

    Organic Royal White Quinoa can be served hot or cold in place of rice or couscous. Cook as a nutritious porridge and serve with fresh fruit and yoghurt for a great start to the day. Use it to accompany stir fries and curries, in soups and hotpots, serve herbed with fresh fish, and create wonderful salads as main meals or side dishes. Try as a delicious wheat free replacement for cracked wheat in Tabouli, or with goat’s cheese, olives, capers and roasted Mediterranean vegetables. Add raw to bread and muffin recipes, or mix pre-cooked Quinoa with shredded coconut as a substitute for oats on top of yummy grain free fruit crumbles.

    1 cup of dried Quinoa will cook up to be about 3 cups. Rinse well under cold water (use a fine mesh sieve). Place drained Quinoa in saucepan of cold water at a ratio is 1:2. Cover and bring to a boil, turn the heat down to low and set the lid ajar. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, until Quinoa is tripled in size, tender, with ‘tails’ popping out. Once cooked, turn off the heat, put the lid on and let sit for about 5 minutes. Use a fork to fluff up the Quinoa and serve.
