River Mint is a Bushfood that grows in south-east Australia near river banks or in moist conditions. It has been used for thousands of years by Indigenous Australians as a food and an insect repellent and medicinal. This wild-harvested River Mint form Victoria has a strong minty aroma, and a spearmint flavour with a peppery tang. It can be used to substitute mint in cooking recipes and drinks.


How to Use:

Australian River Mint can be used as a substitute in recipes where ever mint is called for. Its strong spearmint flavour and aroma is wonderful in both savoury and sweet dishes. Use River Mint to make mint sauce or in a Bushfood salad dressing. Add a lift to fresh coleslaw or Quinoa salads, or create a scrumptious yoghurt, cucumber and River Mint dip.

Delicious with seafood and lamb, add River Mint to curries, hotpots and roasts; or add it to your next quiche or savoury muffins. For a summer treat, sprinkle a little River Mint with coconut sugar over fresh strawberries or melon mix. Great in chia seed puddings and superfood balls.

River Mint is also excellent as a refreshing herbal tea. Drink tea hot with a little honey, or make a vibrant iced tea with the addition of lemon myrtle or sliced limes.
