Bay leaf or bay laurel is one of the well-recognised culinary leaf-spices in use since the earliest times. Bay leaves give off a pleasant and sweet aroma when added to dishes. Wilted and dried leaves are strongly aromatic, the fragrance is slightly floral and somewhat similiar to oregano and thyme and can be stored for months.
