The Source Bulk Foods is proud to announce they are bringing Bea Johnson to Australia so she can share her simple tips and tricks for living a life with less waste.
Events will be held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide in July 2018.
All ticket holders will receive a reusable jute bag and a $20 in-store voucher redeemable at any of The Source Bulk Food Stores*.
Did you know that the average Australian produces 1.5 tonnes of waste every year? According to Clean Up Australia, the amount of waste that hits landfills in Australia every year is enough to cover the entire state of Victoria. Imagine that for a moment … Instead of trees, leaves, parks, gardens, soil, picnic rugs, carpets and floorboards covering the ground, the entire state of Victoria is a bed of rubbish and waste!
The good news, though, is that most household waste is avoidable. With a few simple lifestyle changes, you can dramatically reduce your family’s food and plastic waste, as Bea Johnson will reveal in her upcoming Australian tour.
Bea Johnson, a French-born author now living in America, is leading the global movement towards a waste-free world. In 2008, Johnson and her family embraced a waste-free lifestyle, sharing it on her popular blog www.zerowastehome.com
Bea’s minimalist approach to living subsequently became wide-spread after she released her well-known book, Zero Waste Home: The Ultimate Guide to Simplifying Your Life by Reducing Your Waste, in 2013.
As well as saving time and money, Bea explains how embracing a zero-waste lifestyle also improves health, offering ideas for better meal planning, fresh local produce from farmers markets and consuming more bulk, unpackaged foods. But it’s not just us that benefit from a zero-waste lifestyle – it’s also the planet. Johnson and her family of four have reduced their waste significantly, producing just one mason jar of waste per year since 2008!
Initially, the will to create a more sustainable world for her children was what inspired Johnson on her waste-free journey. Now, she’s spreading the word on waste like wildfire, speaking at universities, corporate events and conferences all over the globe.
Before her book Zero Waste Home was released, the term “zero-waste” was practically unknown. Now, it’s a movement that cannot be ignored – one that The Source Bulk Foods have been advocating since 2012 when they started selling bulk, unpackaged foods in Mullumbimby.
Today, The Source Bulk Foods has over 43 stores around Australia as well as stores in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, offering a range of bulk products that greatly reduce packaging and waste. The Source has saved over 50 million bags from going to landfill and is on a mission to change the way Australians shop for groceries and spread the zero waste message through initiatives such as these.
If you’re concerned about the accumulating waste problem we all share, then Johnson’s Australian tour is a must. You will discover her 5 R’s: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and rot, and how to confidently put them into action.
Plus, all ticket holders will receive a reusable jute bag and a $20 in-store voucher redeemable at any The Source Bulk Food Stores*. We’ll also be giving away five of Johnson’s Zero Waste Home books to the audience during the events.
