ROOTS
The roots of our journey reach back to the heart of beautiful Byron Bay. In 2007 we (Paul and Emma) left corporate Sydney and took ownership of a humble fruit, vegetable and health food store called Eden’s Landing in the small coastal town of Mullumbimby, Northern NSW. We proudly served the Byron Shire with local and organic produce, freshly squeezed juices, fruit and veggie boxes and nourishing foods from our deli. Life was good — but we knew it could be even better.
Despite all the wholesome goodness we couldn’t ignore one troubling truth: everything came wrapped in excessive packaging. So, we set out to change that!
For a few years we had offered around ten bulk food lines in gravity bins tucked inside our fruit and veggie shop. It was this small section — and the community’s love for it — that sparked the idea for The Source!
In 2012 The Source Bulk Foods was born from a simple yet powerful belief — that wholesome, unpackaged food should be easy to access and that every shop, purchase and small change could help reduce our collective footprint.
Our community embraced the idea and with the support of our passionate Franchise Partners, who live and work in the communities they serve, we grew from our roots in Mullumbimby to Balmain, Perth and beyond.
Today, we’re proud to be the largest specialised bulk food retailer in Australia! We have over 40 stores around the country and 6 stores in the United Kingdom.
Each store is locally owned and committed to sustainability and great service. Our shelves are filled with nourishing ingredients, delivered the way food should be — free from plastic and unnecessary waste.
