Tiny but mighty! Blueberries are packed full of antioxidants and rich in nutrients. These little fruits are also super sweet, low in calories and delicious.

What are the benefits of Blueberries?

  1. Natural treats
  2. High in antioxidants
  3. Blueberry powder
  • 1. Natural treats

Use blueberries as a nutritious treat to add on top of pancakes, muesli, oatmeal, yoghurt and more. Or add them in a smoothie! They also taste great when folded into muffins or cakes, and of course when made into jam.

  • 2. High in antioxidants

Blueberries contain an antioxidant called ‘anthocyanin’, a powerful plant compound which gives the berries their natural blue colour and in turn help to boost our immune systems.

  • 3. Blueberry powder

Blueberry powder is made using dried blueberries that have been ground into a fine powder. The nutrients and flavouring are very concentrated which means that just a tablespoon will go a long way when adding to smoothies or desserts. Having blueberries in powdered form also means that it will last for months rather than days.

Blueberry facts

Blueberries are flowering plants that bear indigo-coloured fruits. They are within the genus 'Vaccinium', a family of woody shrubs that can be found throughout the world. There are three common varieties of blueberries: lowbush, highbush and rabbiteye. Lowbush blueberries produce a large harvest of intensely flavoured berries and thrive in the colder climates of the northern hemisphere. Highbush blueberries are the most common variety in Australia and are very well suited to the warmer climate. Rabbiteye blueberries can tolerate very dry conditions and grow well in Northern NSW and Queensland. When the berries are ripening, they look like little rabbit eyes- which is where the name came from!
